You don’t pay a plumber for banging on the pipes, you pay him for knowing where to bang.

Its’s not just about hard work, but applied work. How useful would someone else consider your work? University students work hard, but their work does not offer anything to anyone else (for school work) which is why undergrads pay tuition and don’t get paid instead.
